The SKX007 is a true ISO-certified dive watch with a screw-down crown, excellent lume and a case shape that has become one of the most recognizable in watchmaking. It cost under $200 for most of its life. Since Seiko discontinued it, clean original examples have steadily risen in value, and that’s why it’s worth watching on the price tracker.
Who it’s for
Collectors who want the original rather than the Seiko 5 successor, and divers who want a proven, serviceable tool watch.
Buying tips
- Modified watches are everywhere. Aftermarket dials, sapphire crystals and new bezels are common. Ask whether all parts are original if originality matters to you.
- “J” models (dial says “21 Jewels”, made for Japan) usually cost more than “K” models.
- Check that the crown screws down smoothly and that the bezel clicks crisply in one direction only.
