When Seiko relaunched the Seiko 5 line in 2019, the SRPD took the shape of the beloved SKX diver and added a movement that hacks and hand-winds. It comes in a huge range of dials, bezels and bracelets. It is also the most modified watch in the world, so the aftermarket for dials, hands and bezels is enormous.
Who it’s for
Buyers who want an affordable automatic sports watch, and hobbyists who want a base for custom builds.
Buying tips
- It’s 100 m water resistant with a push-in crown, so it’s fine for swimming but it isn’t a certified diver like the SKX.
- Limited editions (anime and brand collaborations) sell at a premium. Standard models discount well at grey-market retailers.
- Check bezel alignment in close-up photos. Minor misalignment is a known quirk of this line.
