The DW-5600E is the plain-black square G-Shock: no Bluetooth, no solar and nothing to fail. The case floats the module inside shock-absorbing resin, which is why this shape has survived military deployments, construction sites and decades of abuse. It has 200 m water resistance, a stopwatch, a countdown timer, an alarm and an electroluminescent backlight.
Who it’s for
People who are hard on watches. It’s also the right choice if you want the toughest watch possible for the least money. It wears smaller than its numbers suggest because it has almost no lugs.
Buying tips
- The GW-M5610 version adds solar charging and atomic time sync. It usually costs only a little more, so compare both before you buy.
- Check that the backlight and all four buttons work. Pushers can stiffen on well-used examples.
- Collaboration and limited editions cost more than standard models but share the same module.
